David A. deSilva is Trustees’ Distinguished Professor of New Testament and Greek at Ashland Theological Seminary in Ohio. He is author of over 25 books, including Honor, Patronage, Kinship and Purity: Unlocking New Testament culture (2000), Introducing the Apocrypha (2002; rev. edn 2018), An Introduction to the New Testament (2004; rev. edn 2018), Sacramental Life: Spiritual formation through the Book of Common Prayer (2008), Seeing Things John’s Way: The rhetoric of the book of Revelation (2009), The Jewish Teachers of Jesus, James, and Jude (2012) and A Week in the Life of Ephesus (2020). He has also written commentaries on 4 Maccabees, Galatians, Hebrews and Jude. He is ordained in the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church.
