Dr. Kim joined the Covenant Seminary faculty in fall 2019 after 23 years of pastoral ministry and church planting experience.
Dr. Kim holds a BA in sociology from the University of California, Irvine; an MDiv from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary; a ThM in intercultural studies from Fuller Theological Seminary; and a DMin in church development from Reformed Theological Seminary. He is a teaching elder in the Eastern Pennsylvania Presbytery of the PCA.
Dr. Kim brings to his position a wealth of ministry and leadership experience. Having received and followed God’s call in high school, he has devoted his adult life to gospel ministry. He served as a youth pastor for ten years. Dr. Kim then planted two church in Philadelphia for twelve years. As the Church Planting Coordinator for the Metro Philadelphia Church Planting Partnership, serving five PCA presbyteries, Dr. Kim provided churches and church planters with guidance in the areas of vision building, prayer mobilization, strategic planning, coaching, recruiting, assessing, training, and mentoring. Dr. Kim was appointed and elected to serve on the school board of Upper Dublin School District in Philadelphia for five years. He is eager to take time to mentor and assist students in clarifying their sense of calling and casting a vision for church planting.
Dr. Kim and his wife, Wonmin, have three children and a beloved family dog named Mission. Dr. Kim and Wonmin met at Gordon-Conwell, where she was also doing studies. Among her many different roles, Wonmin has served as Women’s Ministry Director at Gracepoint Church and, more recently, works for Serge.
