Insook Lee teaches pastoral theology, care and counseling at NYTS, as well as directs the Seminary’s Master of Arts in Pastoral Care and Counseling Program. Her research interests include Asian/Asian-American feminist pastoral psychotherapy, multiple identities, intercultural and interreligious pastoral care and counseling, and Zen meditation and psychotherapy. She wrote numerous articles in journals, such as Pastoral Psychology, Journal of Pastoral Theology, and Sacred Space. Her most recent  published essay is “The Power of Ambivalence: Using Ambivalence as a Healing Resource for Asian Women in the Confucian Context.” Dr. Lee is currently working on her book, A Confucian Feminist Approach to Care and Counseling of Asian Women. She served as President for the Society of Pastoral Theology. She is an editorial board member of the Journal of Pastoral Theology (JPT), and Book Review Editor of the Journal of Pastoral Care and Counseling (JPC&C). She gave lectures and workshops in Turkey, Japan, England, and Norway as part of her interreligious and intercultural research studies. She is a certified Fellow in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors (AAPC), and an ordained minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A.
