Dr. HwaChoon Park joined Central Seminary in the 2020 Spring semester when she began to teach Work and God's Calling to undergraduates. Since then, Dr. Park has taught Work and God's Calling and Marriage and Family. Dr. Park really enjoys her journey of meaningful teaching at CBTS. Dr. Park has published more than 25 journal articles via international top journals and Korean citation index journals. Dr. Park also has published many books and curriculum materials both in Korean and English.
Dr. Park is a Research Fellow at the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education & Training (KRIVET) in South Korea, which is supported by the Korean government. Dr. Park serves as the Chair in the Center for International Cooperation since January 2021 at the KRIVET. Dr. Park's duties include supporting global networks among the Technical and Vocational Education and Training institutes across the world including UNESCO, World Bank, BIBB, ILO, and many others. She also promotes collaboration on research projects among such institutes and manages research fellows with their international research businesses. Since she joined the KRIVET in April of 2017, Dr. Park had conducted research studies on Career Education for K-16 students as well as Career & Technical Education schools focusing on work-place career experiences. Based on the findings of the studies, Dr. Park made suggestions for new policies, laws, and rules to promote Career Education in K-12 schools, CTE schools, and higher education institutes in Korea.
From October 16, 2017, to April 3rd, 2019, Dr. Park worked as a Research Professor at Ddadeutan Educational Community Research Center (DECRC) at Pusan National University in South Korea, which is one of the top leading national universities in Korea. The research center was founded in fall 2017 and is supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) for Social Science Korea (SSK) research projects. Her duties included assisting the chair of the center, and designing and conducting research studies on the school community. Dr. Park collaborated with more than ten professors who were involved in the center from various educational departments such as the Department of Education, Early Child Education, Special Education, Learning, Design, and Technology. Dr. Park also supervised research fellows and graduate students (more than 14 researchers), lead seminars, and guide their research studies. Dr. Park coordinated conferences which the center hosted as well.
Dr. HwaChoon Park obtained her Ph.D. degree from The University of Georgia in December 2016. She majored in Workforce Education in the Department of Career and Information Studies in the College of Education. Her research interests are employability skills, work ethic, psychometric properties of educational measurements, career development through work experience, school-community engagement for career development, curriculum development, work and calling, teaching and learning in higher education, and quantitative research methods.
As a graduate teaching assistant at UGA, Dr. Park taught EDIT 2000 Introduction to Computers for Teachers as an instructor for two years and ETES 2320 Creative Activities for Teachers as teaching and lab assistant for more than four years. Also, Dr. Park worked as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at UGA in the spring of 2017.
